Fitting California Natives into California-Style Gardens

On Monday, April 9, 2012 the San Diego Horticultural Society welcomes a leading authority on California native plants, Susan Krzywicki. Susan will discuss Fitting California Natives into California-Style Gardens. California native plants have an exciting place in our gardens if we understand which plants perform well in which conditions. They bring a sense of heritage and they look to the future. They offer an ecologically sound way of blending the requirements for a highly cultivated place with a need to conserve resources and minimize exposure to chemicals. The evening starts at 6:00 p.m. in the Surfside Race Place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Jimmy Durante Blvd. in Del Mar. Parking is free and everyone is welcome. Admission is free for members and $10 for non-members. Before the lecture a plant expert will discuss one exceptional plant (a “Hot Hort Pick”) that is a star in the garden.
