Moon trees are not plants that flourish on lunar terrain, but rather, trees that are grown from seeds that orbited the moon thirty-four times, in the Apollo 14 lunar mission in 1971.
An intrepid naturalist and botanic illustrator, Mary Vaux Walcott explored the Rocky Mountains to paint its wildflowers. 
Contemporary artist Choi Jeong Hwa designs big, bright flowers, which he installs in natural and urban landscapes.

Monterey's famous Lone Cypress is one of the most photographed trees in the United States, and has become emblematic of the California Coast. Its image is also copyrighted, which brings up interesting questions about the legal images of nature.
An 800-year old cypress tree grows in the cloister of a hilltop Franciscan convent in Italy; legend says that Saint Francis planted the tree from his own walking staff. 
For a conceptual art exhibit in Belgium, Tokyo-based florist and artist Makoto Azuma created two bonsai pieces using unusual techniques: ice and wires.
