Designer Terence Conran opened the first Habitat store in 1964. He believed then, as now, that people want information and tools to execute their own environments. An avid gardener, Conran has an unique ability to create outdoor spaces that are perfect for entertaining. Here are some of his design secrets.
On Dinner Parties: "I never try to lay it up like a formal dining table. We bring out trays of food and people help themselves to what they want, rather than having a plated service
Paper or Plastic? “We use the same tableware outdoors as we use in the house. I'm not a great believer in eating off plastic, especially utensils. I always put out wooden-handled knives with carbon steel blades that can be honed properly."
