We all have our favorite books about landscapes. Artist Guy Laramée went a step further, carving elaborate landscapes into old books. “One day I had the stupid idea of putting a book into a sandblaster,” he laughs. The moment was a revelation (“I saw the whole project at once,” he says), but it took 10 years to complete his series based on an imagined Chinese-U.S. conflict that depicts actual sites in Asia.
