If you're in New York and free during the day, consider heading to Brooklyn Botanic Garden's 15th Annual Plant-O-Rama, co-sponsored by the Metro Hort Group, tomorrow, January 25. There will be a morning and an afternoon series of three talks (the afternoon will be a repeat of the morning): "Perennial Favorites: New, Overlooked, and Just Plain Cool!" with Tony Avent, owner of Plant Delights Nursery in Raleigh, North Carolina; "Rare and Unusual Trees and Shrubs for Urban Environments," by Adam Wheeler, the propagation mager for Broken Arrow Nursery, in Hamden, Conneticut; and "So We Ran a Nursery: A Reality Check" with Bob Hyland, the co-owner of Loomis Creek Nursery in Hudson, New York.
There will also be a meeting of Garden Writers Association Region 1, a trade show with 45 exhibitors, and a catalog display and book sale. I'll be there during the morning, so please stop me and say hi if you're attending!
