In an update to our story about the gardens of Helen and Brice Marden's Golden Rock Inn in the Caribbean in January/February 2012, we have new photos from landscape designer Raymond Jungles that show the most recent progress of the hotel's lush, tropical gardens.

The hills of Japan's Hitachi Flower Park blossom bright with about 30,000 bushes of Kochia, a bush whose leaves and stems turn red in October. A couple million light pink and white cosmos bloom alongside in the park's 153 hectacres. 
This perennial hibiscus, a spectacular culmination of the rose-mallow breeding program of Walters Gardens nursery and selected from among thousands of seedlings, has enormous 9-inch-wide ruffled blooms of deep magenta with a red eye. Sturdy, full plants make a striking specimen in the garden from midsummer through early fall. Hardy in Zones 4-9.
